  • Choosing the Correct Replacement Spring for an Enclosed Trailer Ramp Door
I'd go with a double spring personally, Scott. These are typically going to be used on more heavy duty applications like your enclosed trailer with a pretty heavy door. In order to get a proper replacement though, you'd need measure the width of your door and find out the weight of the door at it's heaviest point, which I'd imagine isn't more than 185 lbs, so something like # M394FR should work great but I recommend verifying yourself.

  • Will Conventional Ramp Door Spring M394FR Work On Toy Hauler Door?
Hello Robert, thanks for reaching out. Yes, a Conventional Ramp Door Spring like part # M394FR can work on toy hauler doors and will make it feel a lot lighter than it is now. When wound correctly, the # M394FR spring can lift up to 180 lbs. In order to confirm fit, you'll first need to measure your door end to end. Then, you'll need to find the hinged weight which is calculated by placing a scale on the ground in the center of the landing path of the door edge (no cables attached). If...

  • Ramp Spring Recommendation for 8 Foot Wide Trailer Ramp
I would think the 185 lb spring would work best like the part # M394FR that you referenced. 185 lbs would feel really hard to pick up off the ground so I would assume this would be right at the correct capacity to make sure your ramp is easy to pick up.

  • Looking For Overhead Spring Assist For Son Pro Snowmobile Trailer
Hello Chad, thanks for reaching out. Adding a conventional ramp door spring system will definitely help when raising and lowering your ramp door. I definitely recommend doing with a dual spring for maximum support. You will just want to measure your door and make sure it is 8" wide. Also it helps to get an idea of the door weight. The # M394FR spring has a 185 lb capacity so we do want to be sure your door does not exceed this. With it being aluminum I highly doubt it weighs more than 185...

  • Looking for Ramp Spring for 2025 Freedom Car Hauler
Hey David, is the car hauler an enclosed trailer with an overhead ramp spring setup? Based on what you described that's what I believe you have and would need a ramp spring setup like the # M394FR.

  • Are Trailer Ramp Door Spring Dual Spring Twice Capacity as Single Spring
Hey Rene, so the ramp door springs like the part # M394FR are not all identical in spec and capacity. So what that means is a double spring setup does not mean it's just the same spring on both ends compared to a single spring. This is why the capacities do not just double compared to a single spring.

  • What Info Is Needed to Pick Out Conventional Trailer Ramp Spring
Hey Scott you will need to get the width of your ramp as well as the weight of the ramp to pick out what you'd need. For example the part # M394FR is for 8 foot wide ramps and has a weight capacity of 185 lb. I attached a link to all of the options we have if that is not what you need.

  • Ramp Door Spring Recommendation for 200 lb 90" Wide Door
Hey Rick, thanks for reaching out! I'm guessing the 90" dimension is the width of your trailer door so for your application I recommend the Conventional Ramp Door Spring # M394FR because it has a 185 lb weight rating. This means that you'll still need to put a little effort into lifting the door, but you'll only be handling 15 lbs of it if your door really does weigh 200 lbs. We have some higher rated springs but that can be dangerous since the spring can close the door by itself if it's...

  • Is Trailer Ramp Spring Adjustable in Tension
The spring capacity of the torsion style ramps springs like the part # M394FR that you mentioned is how much lifting strength it is capable of if adjusted for it. This spring has a 185 lb capacity but could have a lower tension used if that's too much for the door. Since we recommend having a pro with experience winding garage door springs install these they'd be able to set the best amount of tension to use.

  • Replacement Spring And Hinge Options For A 2008 Jayco Recon ZX 37U Toy Hauler Ramp Door
Our ramp door hinge selection is limited to just part # PLR1902, which can be welded in place. For example, part # M394FR can fit a door width of 67-3/4" to 95-1/2" and has a spring capacity of 185lbs. I've attached a link below to our spring options.

  • How Do the Cables Get Mounted To the Doors On the Conventional Ramp Door Springs
The cables with the Conventional Ramp Door Springs like part # M394FR are attached to the door via anchor brackets which are included with the kit. I have attached below the excerpt from the install instructions below which goes over the cable attachment. I have also pointed them out in a photo as well. "With the door in the down position, attach the cables to the anchor brackets mounted on the floor of the door by inserting the clevis pin through the anchor bracket and the round thimble...

  • Height of Mounting Brackets of Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8' Wide Enclosed Trailer M394FR
I was able to get the height for you of the mounting brackets for the Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8' Wide Enclosed Trailer # M394FR. Overall, the height is 6-1/4 inches, and from the top of the opening where the spring's shaft goes through to the top of the bracket measures 3-7/8 inches. You won't need quite that much space above the drum, but will want at least 2 to 2-1/2 inches to be able to mount the bracket. I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as...

The cable for the Conventional Ramp Door Spring # M394FR needs to always come off the bottom of the drum. If it comes over the top, the system is installed backwards.
